If there’s one thing I’ve learned since moving to California, it’s that the sun that I used to practically worship in New York needs no extra special attention to say hello out West!
After just a few months here, it becomes pretty apparent that the amount of sun that used to make you freckly and tan can now age you tremendously in just months. It wasn’t long before I started looking out for sunscreens, and surprisingly, I was completely horrified at what I found. I actually found studies where the chemicals in sunscreen were what was found to give people cancer – NOT the sun! After that, I did my thorough research for All Natural Sunscreen.

One of the first brands that I reached out to was Raw Elements, an Organic, EWG, All Natural Sunscreen! I’ve been using them for months now, and have brought their travel-friendly sunblock-stick with me all over the World! It’s great for travel and you don’t have to keep re-applying it like other sunscreens! It’s saved my face & my body everywhere from New York to California to Mexico! The sun can do a lot of damage to your skin which is why I recommend investing in a good quality sunscreen. If you’re ever visiting somewhere where you know you’ll come into contact with sun, protect your skin! It’s really important that I use skincare and beauty products that have an ewg rating so if you’re ever unsure of which sunscreen/skincare products to buy, always check the EWG rating.

Founder & 17 year Ocean Rescue Lifeguard Brian Guadagno & his team & I had a face-to-face meeting last month in Santa Monica, and they couldn’t have been nicer or more informative about who they are and what they represent!
Some super important things to know about Raw Elements & their 100% Natural Ingredients:
Why is Raw Elements USA Sunscreen the Safest?
- #1 Rating for Safety and Efficacy from The Environmental Working Group
- 100% All Natural and Certified Organic Inactive Ingredients
- Never Contains Harsh or Synthetic Chemicals
- Hypoallergenic, Safe For All Ages and Sensitive Skin
- Non Nano Zinc Oxide as the Only Active Ingredient
- Eco Safe, Reef Safe, Biodegradable and Never Tests on Animals
Why is Raw Elements USA Sunscreen the Most Effective?
- True Balanced Broad Spectrum Protection – Both UVA/UVB Rays
- Very Water and Sweat Resistant beyond 80 Minutes
- Never Runs, Never Stings Eyes or Clogs Pores
- Tubes Float and Can Be Applied to Wet Skin
- Delivers High Levels of Certified Organic Moisturizers and Antioxidants to the Skin

Brian puts it so beautifully and simply,
” I don’t want Skin Cancer, I don’t want my friends and family to end up with Skin Cancer. I set out to develop the best sunscreen in the world, all natural, certified organic ingredients that is free of the chemicals and able to provide physical, broad spectrum protection . I am committed to spreading education and awareness toward Skin Cancer prevention and a responsible approach toward sun protection.”
Love your skin! Save your face!

Feeling is the language, the forgotten language. If you understand feeling, you understand the whole.
lt is said of Luqman, one of the wisest men ever born — he is the founder of Yunani medicine — that he would go to plants, to bushes and trees, sit there, feel them, and ask them, “What use can you be put to? What disease can you be helpful in?” It is said that he discovered millions of herbs, just by feeling them. The herb would say, “It will be good if you use me in tuberculosis; I can help.”

This looks like a myth, fiction. But scientists have been at a loss: if this is a fiction, then how did Luqman come to know?
Because whatsoever he knew has been proved by all scientific experiment to be right. And no laboratories such as exist today existed then; not such refined instruments, not at all! If this is a fiction, then a greater problem arises: How did he come to know? And not one or two or a hundred herbs…millions! If he had been experimenting with crude implements then it would have taken at least ten to twenty thousand years for him to discover all that. That seems to be more fictitious. The first fiction seems to be nearer reality…
that he asked.
There is the same story in India also. Ayurveda, the Indian medicine, is based on the same secret. Those secrets were revealed by the plants themselves. But then a language is needed, a language which is universal and not local to humanity.

Feeling is that language. Greek or Arabic or Sanskrit won’t do. No language originating in the mind is divine language. No, the divine language originated in the heart. Feeling is the language.
If you start really feeling, and your heart starts really throbbing with feeling, you can ask a tree, and a tree is always ready to reveal it’s secret. You can ask a bird, and the bird is ready to reveal it’s secret. You can ask existence, and existence is ready to reveal it’s heart.

I am SO bad at staying in tune with my bad ( social networking, photo updating, geo-tagging, post-queing ) self when I’m traveling! All of my apologies & then some, but it’s hard when every corner of your life is totally enchanted by a country you’ve never seen before! Traveling doesn’t lend itself to uploading and editing photos, but that doesn’t mean I have to leave you guys in the dark! I thought I’d do my Mood Board Monday a little early and put some color into your weekend! I’ve spent more time on a plane, in a train and en route to a destination this month than any in the rest of my life combined (Mexico & Italy within three weeks of each other – what the heck was I thinking?!), and I’m missing the feeling of just doing blissfully nothing and I’ve really been feeling/missing/wanting sunshine – and lots of it!
Enjoy!

I am packing for Mexico today… One suitcase already full of Around the World Lookbook gear: eco friendly, handmade, hand crafted, home made, sustainable jewels, shirts, skirts, pants, dresses, bracelets, necklaces, beauty products, sun screen, shoes, accessories… I am overwhelmed at all the love and I can’t WAIT to rock & shoot it all!
First I am staying at the super posh Avalon Hotel in Beverly Hills. Marilyn Monroe used to live there for a period of 3 years in the 1950’s and my favorites/mentors/idols Lucille Ball & Mae West also stayed there. I am SO excited to shoot there!!
I thought I’d share with you some of the photos that Kris shot on our last trip to Joshua Tree/Palm Springs. The idea of the Around the World Lookbook was planted during this trip and I’ve gotten such an overwhelming response since that I really can’t stop smiling! I’ve been doing some extra running, lifting and push and pull ups to get my body in shape for some of these exquisite clothes! Despite the tummy burn, I am super satisfied! 🙂
I really feel like the luckiest girl on Earth sometimes. When I was young I used to sketch out and draw out plans like this and I kept them really dear to my heart. To have so many wonderful people, companies and products interested in what I am doing and willing to support me in it is really beyond words sometimes. The fact that in less than a month after we shoot this I will be in Italy shooting and exploring and styling even MORE is almost too much to comprehend!
A big, warm, long thank you to all of you!
Thanks again for making this possible, everyone! Beautiful photos to come! ♥

Okay, okay… I admit it: I’m a little bit of a workaholic (and not in the relevant Comedy Central way.) This came in the form of self-neglect for a number of years. But it has now, in recent months, made me a huge fan of taking care of myself, and I’m always looking for new, wonderful and down to earth ways to do it!
This is a relatively new concept for me, but one I really enjoy indulging in when it comes to my bath and beauty routine, as well as my diet and fitness.
When I travel back to the East Coast, it’s important for me to bring, try and promote local brands that really combat the dry, windy cities of lore! The amazing Laurel – founder, Skin Guru & overall wonderful woman, who grows some of Sequoia’s herbs in her own garden– of Sequoia Beauty gave me the opportunity to do just that when she sent over a lovely little care package of facial treatment! They are based in the Bay area of California, and the wonderful thing about Sequoia is that there is absolutely NO water added to dilute their ingredients. In the world of beauty products, this is absolutely and almost impossible to find! I got the opportunity to use her products for my nightly bath routine, and what a difference!
I have 5 friendly steps to using Sequoia products to aid your nightly skincare routine!

Treat yourself with the Almond Exfoliant & Honey Berry Enzyme Mask! Your skin will thank you!
These ingredients are certified organic, raw, local to the bay area, and non-gmo!

Apply some ultra moisturizing Lavender Lip Healer while your mask sets! Lavender is one of my favorite scents! So calming & lovely!

Hop in a bath, relax in bed, in a sunny spot, read your favorite book, and breathe deeply!

Use Sequoia’s Hydrating Cleanser to cleanse your face of the Mask or Exfoliant. I use the Transform Moisturizer on my lips and eyelids as I relax & unwind!
Lastly, use the Tighten Toner & Nourishing Serum on your face to promote all natural anti-aging, skin healing & organic rejuvenation!
A big hug, love, shout out & thank you to Sequoia Beauty for making my skin routine easy, flexible, transportable and 100% Organic! I’m more than happy to share about their commitment to health & wellness!
