Personally, I have always been low maintenance when it comes to hair care. Instead of trying to fight my curls, I always just went with them. I shower, wash, condition, brush, let them air dry. I am good to go. Unless it gets done for work, I hardly ever straighten it. Most of the time, I let it do its thing. If I want to enhance my waves, then sometimes I will use one of my triple barrel irons, but apart from that I like the natural look. Achieving a Natural Curl:
- Patience is key. If you have spent years straightening out your curl, it will take a few days for it to find its natural place. I recommend putting your hair up for these days if you do not feel comfortable wearing it out yet. Do NOT give up and go back to straightening or you will have to start all over!
- Using a wide tooth comb, separate and comb through your hair in sections when it is damp. This is the best and most natural way finding your own individual healthy curls!
- Run a heat locking serum or natural oils through with your fingers.
- Using your fingers, define the curls any which way you want!

Shea Moisture is the curly girl way to all natural moisture! I am totally in love with their products – from their deep masque treatment to their hand and body scrub – they seem to by the only brand that works equally well on curly hair as well as ethnic hair! For how incredible nourishing this brand is, they have managed to stay at a reasonable price. You can find yours at Target – most Shea Moisture products are under $15!
2. Organix Shea Butter Conditioner
There is a lot to love about Organix products: they really work to hydrate and define curls, they are sulfate free, they are cruelty free, gluten free, and the packaging is environmentally friendly. My one catch? Despite the name, they are not organic. Womp womp. One of my all-time biggest pet peeves is false advertising. :/ That said, you can make the choice! Personally, when it comes to my hair products, as long as I am not putting a ton of chemicals in my hair, I am totally okay with it. 🙂 Organix is one of my all-time favorite go-to products when it comes to nourishing my hair!
