Cleaner, greener beauty is going mainstream. 2017 may finally be “The Year of Green Beauty,” thanks to many more retail stores, women, millennial moms (and even guys!) getting more clear on their health and wellness. My beauty cabinets are stocked full of both tried-and-true brands as well as a handful of the hundreds of new clean beauty brands that emerged this year. It’s been amazing to watch the revolution grow! With so many products hitting the mainstream, and this being the season of minimalism, I thought I’d cut down on some of my products and give you five ways to use the natural beauty goods you already have in new and interesting ways. Read my suggestions below…
The highlighter you never knew you had…
Waxelene is a potent multi-tasking petroleum jelly alternative. It has hundreds of uses already as a moisturizer, diaper cream, healing balm, hair gel, anti-chafe, after-shave, body lotion and more. But did you know you can also use this product as a highlighter for your face? That’s right – after applying your makeup (or maybe in lieu of it!) add a dab of Waxelene to your favorite liquid highlighter for a beautiful sheen, or use on its own for a gorgeous glow. A little goes a long way and you’ll be dewey for hours!
Drink your dirt…
I adore face masks for banishing blemishes and lightening acne scars. But did you know you can benefit from drinking your mask as well? Add a teaspoon of an organic face mask like Odacite’s Skin Perfecting Masque to a glass of water. This purifying mask includes healing ingredients like Bentonite Clay, Papaya Enzymes and activated charcoal, which can detoxify the body from the inside, out! This helps gut health, stomach issues, skin, digestion and so much more. Be sure to check the ingredients before consuming, and check with your doctor before consuming if you take any medications.
Healthy skin for you – and your best friend…
Just about everything that can help you can also help your dog or kitty, too! Add a scoop of organic coconut oil into their food at night to help keep their coat shiny. If they’re having skin or digestion issues, add a teaspoon of bentonite clay to your pooch’s water at dinner time. Break out the organic french green clay and make a mask if you spot any tumors or skin growths. Wrap the tumor or growth in a clay/water mixture, and watch as they diminish and then disappear. It may take a few weeks, but don’t give up! I’ve rid my older doggie of three or four tumors this way, when the vet had suggested surgery or a more aggressive form of treatment.
All over enhancement…
Genetix Organic Enhancement Oil is designed to be used on your chest and decolletage. But did you know this oil can be used to “enhance” and enlarge your lips and butt, too? Yep – just massage on at night for a near-instant plumping effect. The more you do it, the better your results! That’s one less squat you need to do and one less plumping lip product you need to buy. Voila!
Toner as perfume…
One of my favorite uses for toner is to double as a perfume. I use Lotus Wei’s Infinite Love as a mist for my face, but it also makes a wonderful, light scent to spray on before a meeting or coffee date. Find toners that don’t contain any jarring scents. I love scents like rose, neroli and orange. Spray your clothes, pulse points and hair – then watch as people around you take notice!

Altruism.
It’s one of the most important words I learned while studying genetics and evolution.
By its principals, it supports the very idea that none of us would be here without each other’s kindness. Somewhere, sometime, someone saved one of your ancestors from certain death so that you could be here today. Maybe someone even risked (or lost!) their own life so that your ancestors could survive and you could be here. That’s still such a raw truth to me. We exist because of one anothers’ kindness.
***
When I travel, I’m reminded of just how much there truly is to go around. I’m also constantly hit over the head with this fact: the idea that we need to be greedy because ‘there aren’t enough resources’ or there’s ‘not enough money’ or ‘not enough land’ is a complete fallacy.

From my understanding, money isn’t going to run out: it stopped being backed by gold a long time ago and they keep printing more of the stuff every day. There are countless opportunities to make it! There are millions of acres of untouched fertile land. There are zillions of experiences out there you can create for yourself to enrich your life. Someone else’s success is also your success because they are paving the way for YOU.

No one should be driven to hate. No one should feel driven to take anything (rights, land, lives, opportunities) from another person. Because when one of us wins, we ALL win. And when one of us loses, we ALL lose. We’re here to pave the way for each other. We always have been. Yes, of course population density and hatred and its consequences are real.
So, what can we do about that?
We can acknowledge that human kindness is also real. We can prove it to other people by being the example.
You can choose to do better than your parents did. You can choose to define justice for yourself in a positive way. You can choose to create the world you wish existed. You can creative positive, important things, instead of dwelling in negative thoughts. You can acknowledge that people face different challenges than you do – in your words as well as your actions. You can be different than how you were taught to be.
Love is real. Miracles are real, too and they’re happening every single day. It’s a miracle that we all woke up this morning. It’s a miracle that we can do better than we did yesterday. Our choices change the world. If you want to see a change, start to change. No justice, no peace.
Here’s my challenge:
Start creating miracles instead of denying them.
Start appreciating daily miracles instead of allowing anger get the best of you. You don’t need to deny reality. You need to swallow reality, then be exactly what you want the world to be, and the world will start to reflect you. Acknowledge that someone saved your ancestors so you could live.
Appreciate that fact in everyone you meet.
THAT’s where change begins.
You got this, my love. Now go live it.
Health & Happiness,
Tara
